Cyproheptadine HCI B.P. 2mgDescription:
Toractin syrup contains cyproheptadine HCI, which is an antithistaminic and antiserotonergic agent
Indications:
Toractin is mainly used as Appetite Stimulatant,Prophylactic treatment of paediatric migraines; suppresion of vascular headaces. symptomatic relief of perennnial and seasonal allergic rhinitis, vasomotor rhinitis, allergic conjunctivities; amelioration of allergic reactions to blood or plasma; management of allergic prurific symptoms, mild skin manifestations uncomplicated urticaria and angioedema and urticaria; dermographism; adjunctive anaphylactic therapy.
Dosage
Adults: Starting dose, 4mg every 8hr. usual dose, 4 to 20 mg / day; not exceed 0.5 mg/kg/day
Children 7 to 14 yrs of age: 4 mg twice or three times daily (Max, 16 mg/day).
Children 2 to 6 yrs of age: 2 mg, 2 or 3 times daily (max, 12mg/day). (Total daily dosage 0.25mg/kg or 8 mg/m2).
Precaution:
Dizzyness / Drowsiness Monitor patient for dizziness and excessive drowness. If noted, hold therapy and notify health care provider. Administer with food if GI upset occurs. Measure and administer prescribed dose of syrup using dosing syringe, dossing spoon, or dosing cup.
Side Effects and Storage
Excessive perspiration; photosensitivity; rash; ulticaria.
Storage: Store below 25 degree Celsius in cool, dry and dark place.
